You will always notice that University will always give work more than you can actually do. There’s not enough time to do all the reading, assignments, research, etc. You will feel the workload to be very. with an effective time management strategies, you can efficiently manage your time and due dates.
How Student Can Create Effective Time Management Strategies
Time management is one of the hardest things to do when you are in the university. This system will help you to manage time and be methodical. You can create an excel sheet and include the following information in it.
Try and list out all the things that are due at specific times or weeks during your course. Include all the assignment dates, midterms, exams, quizzes, etc. You may also include study sessions and research projects. Include all tasks you think it is necessary for you to achieve your ultimate objective. But don’t waste your valuable time on tasks you think are not that important.
Start scheduling your tasks for projects and other works. When creating the tasks, make sure to indicate the course and the task you would like to be completed clearly. Only you will be able to determine how much time duration you will need for the work. Always try and project more time than you think. You can create any task in your excel sheet as long as it makes sense to you. Make sure you put the task next to the project name for the ease of use.
Recheck if the due dates for your tasks match with due dates on your syllabus. If not it will create a huge problem.
Using color pickers on Excel you can give different colors to various tasks and projects. These colors will come in handy when you are organizing a schedule. If there is a hand in the task, make sure that you give it red color to get your full attention. If there are many tasks at the same time plan and prepare yourself. I recommend you to list out all the due dates first and prepare tasks surrounding them.
Don’t try and fill all the blank spaces on your spreadsheet with tasks. You will ultimately end up being exhausted and fed up in the middle of the day. Give yourself proper rest. I recommend a maximum of 5-6 hours of study in addition to lectures and lab work. Try and schedule a 30-minute break for every 2 hours. Give your head time to relax.
Work hard for 25 minutes and rest for 5 minutes. This is a good method to study. But be aware that you can’t use your mobile, visit Facebook or go Snapchat during the 25 minutes. Make yourself busy with your study work only. This way of work is known as Pomodoro technique.
Make sure that all your tasks are having an objective. Just don’t waste your time on unnecessary readings and referrals. Feel free to move around tasks but be aware of your due dates. Always keep in close contact with your schedule task spreadsheet and refer the tasks which are ahead and complete them. Manage your time and follow your schedule. Having an effective time management strategies would let you manage your time and meet the deadline.
